For 39 minutes Anadolu Efes was near the break in Madrid. However the heard of the captain Felipe Reyes and Sergio Rodriguez from the charity stripe led Real to the big 90-85 win and the 2-0 advantage in the play offs.
In the second quarter, Anadolu Efes with a partial 29-15 score managed to get the lead (45-37) which became 62-47 in the third. Real Madrid answered with a 23-6 run and tied the score at 68 with 8 minutes to go. Efes got the lead again but with 43 seconds left Reyes with a three gave Real Madrid a one point advantage (83-82). Stratos Perperoglou who had already missed two threes, lost the ball to Sergio Llull 23 seconds before the end and Sergio Rodriguez sealed the win from the free throws line (7/8) despite an other big three by Matt Janning which gave hope to Efes.
Reyes had in total 6 points while Llull had a big night with 18 points and 12 assists. Nenad Krstic with 23 points was great and Thomas Heurtel also had one of his best Euroleague games with 16 points, 15 assists and 6 rebounds, registering a new Euroleague record for assists in a single playoffs game.
