When it seemed that Olimpia Milano was out of the slump, they lost again

By Eurohoops team / info@eurohoops.net

Just when it seemed that Olimpia Milano had regained momentum with a victory over Brindisi in Legabasket and a dominant performance against Valencia in the EuroLeague, breaking a four-game losing streak in both competitions, their struggles continued.

Ettore Messina’s team suffered their third defeat of the season in the domestic championship, losing 77-68 on the road to Scafati.

It was not just any defeat, as Milano never held a lead throughout the match. Scafati led from the beginning to the end, with Messina’s side only managing to tie the score a couple of times in the first quarter. Despite the defending champions narrowing the gap to four points when Scafati had a 68-54 lead in the fourth period, that was as close as they could get.

Former Milano player Alessandro Gentile led the winning side with 15 points and eight rebounds, while Demetre Rivers added 13 points with seven rebounds. Riccardo Rossato also contributed 13 points, while Gerald Robinson finished with 10 points for Scafati.

Nikola Mirotic’s impressive performance of 19 points and nine rebounds wasn’t enough for Olimpia Milano, as only Alex Poyhtress managed to follow suit with 15 points.
