Federation and league set to discuss sanctions and next steps after Sharks’ abandoned game and ongoing administrative issues

The Italian Basketball Federation (FIP) and Lega Basket Serie A (LBA( will meet on Monday, January 12, at the federation’s headquarters to discuss the Trapani Shark situation, as announced shortly after the abandoned game against Aquila Trento.

The contest was called off after just four minutes, with Trento leading 28–11, as Trapani were left with only four players on the floor after Rossato, Sanogo, and Pugliatti exited the court immediately following the opening tip.

Trapani currently sit at minus 10 points in the standings after being hit with an additional two-point deduction on January 9, along with a two-year ban for club owner Valerio Antonini, due to administrative irregularities tied to the club’s registration for the 2025/26 season.

It marks the fourth sanction imposed on the Sharks: a four-point deduction in May for tax and social security irregularities, a one-point penalty in late November for a delayed payment, and a three-point deduction at the end of December, again accompanied by a two-year ban for Antonini.
