Virtus Bologna and Armani Milan brought the curtain down on Round 22 of the Lega, and the finale could not have been better.
The two Italian representatives in Europe’s top basketball competition delivered a very evenly contested matchup that ultimately went the way of the home side, 104-94.
The home victory had two main protagonists: Derrick Alston Jr. scored 27 points, while Carsen Edwards added 28 more. Armani Brooks was the top scorer for the team coached by Pepe Poeta, finishing with 21 points.
Although the game remained extremely close, the hosts were in front on the scoreboard throughout most of the contest, even building double-digit leads during the first half.
In the second half, Olimpia Milano stepped on the gas and closed the third quarter at 74–73, setting up what looked like a thrilling final period. However, the home side managed to pull away again and closed out the game calmly to secure the final victory.
