Virtus Bologna’s sole lead at the top of the Italian domestic competition could be in jeopardy within weeks. Ivanovic’s team suffered a clear defeat on the road against Reggio Emilia, losing 84–70, and now Brescia could draw level with them at the top of the standings if they win their pending game.
Despite starting strong with a 20–25 lead, the EuroLeague side had no real chance of securing the win, even with 17 points from Carsen Edwards, the game’s top scorer.
Things went much better for the other Italian EuroLeague team, as Armani Milan did get the victory: a 99–87 win over Sassari that allows them to close the gap on their main title rival.
