Red October Cantu is an Italian Cup semifinalist after defeating the reigning champions 105 – 87. The first half made the difference for the winners.

Andrew Goudelock’s 23 points (5 three-pointers) and Jordan Theodore’s 16 points, 7 boards and 6 assists weren’t enough for Olimpia Milano.

Simone Pianigiani’s team struggled defensively and Cantu headed the locker room with a big lead at the break (57 – 38). Charles Thomas and Jaime Smith combined for 25 points during that extraordinary period. Milano tried to reduce the difference in the second half but they continued receiving a lot of points.

Six players scored in double-figures for Cantu. Jaime Smith paced the winners with 23 points and 8 assists.

Cantu will face the winner of the quarterfinal game between Brescia and Bologna in the next round.
