Today, Nikos Zisis officially announced his retirement from the Greek national team, after 17 consecutive years of presence in each and every summer international tournament. Without him and Spanoulis who also retired last summer, a new back court is needed.

Given the fact that Zisis left a “gap” in the roster with the upcoming pre-Olympic tournament tipping off in just two weeks, Tyler Dorsey will be called to join the Greek national team by coach Fotis Katsikaris. The 20-year old guard completed a splendid season with the Oregon Ducks in the NCAA, averaging 13.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2 assists per game.

During the upcoming weeks, Katsikaris will announce the player who will compile the preliminary squad of the Greek national team, and Tyler Dorsey’s name will be included. From that point on, it’s up to him to claim a spot in the final 12-men squad that will participate in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Turin.
