The Lithuanian Basketball federation announced that its executive committee voted today Dainius Adomaitis as the new head coach of the national team.
“This is a huge challenge, a big responsibility, but I am not afraid – I think I’m ready, and there is no doubt,” Adomaitis said who had the support of federation president Arvydas Sabonis. The other coach who was candidate for the position was former Sabonis’ teammate Rimas Kurtinaitis.
However, even Adomaitis was not the first pick of Sabonis, who would like to keep Jonas Kazlauskas in his position or offer the job to Sarunas Jasikevicious. However, both coaches denied the chance to stay or start coaching the team respectively.
