Just over a couple of months after suspending the 2019-20 season due to the coronavirus pandemic, the NBA will make a ruling on the remainder of the 2019-20 season in two-to-four weeks, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Within this timeline, the NBA will continue to evaluate health concerns and competition formats hoping to resume action at some point and eventually conclude the season.

Minimizing health risks and containing the coronavirus spread are certainly the keys to deciding to restart the 2019-20 campaign. The NBA will be monitoring rapid-testing developments and following health guidelines.

Apart from the immediate health concerns, the NBA is looking to minimize travel by using two locations for the rest of the matches. The main options are Las Vegas and Orlando. The competition format can range from all 30 teams coming back to a 16-team playoff field.

Potentially resuming the season and stretching it deep into the summer will likely push the start of the 2020-21 season. The scheduling adjustments can directly affect the participation of NBA stars in the Olympic Games moved from 2020 to 2021.
