An unlucky development for the Heat and Derrick Jones Jr. in a game with little significance

By Stefan Djordjevic / info@eurohoops.net

The last night’s games didn’t have any significance seeding-wise as all teams were already locked into their current spot.

Practically all squads rested a number of players but somebody still has to play and it may be the worst thing to suffer an injury in such an ‘insignificant’ game.

Unfortunately, the Miami Heat‘s Derrick Jones Jr.experienced just that. He collided with the Pacers center Goga Btadze who was trying to set a screen and fell to the floor immediately after, laying down on his stomach with hands over his head for several minutes.

Heat personnel and eventually emergency medical workers tended to Jones. Once the brace was on, they rolled him onto a backboard and lifted him onto a stretcher before wheeling him off the floor.

Jones Jr. was later diagnosed with a neck strain following a series of scans and tests and he will be re-evaluated over the weekend.
