Minnesota Timberwolves associate HC David Vanterpool will interview for the Houston Rockets head coaching job, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

Vanterpool spent seven seasons on Portland staff (2012-19) and had a prominent part in the growth of Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum. Afterward, he became the top assistant with Minnesota.

Prior to the Blazers, he spent two seasons (2010-12) with the Oklahoma City Thunder as director of pro personnel. He was named an assistant coach on the Canadian Men’s National Team in 2015.

Vanterpool is a five-time coach for the NBA’s Basketball Without Borders initiative and ran coaching clinics in the Bahamas during the summer of 2017. He also served on the coaching staff of the 2018 NBA Africa Game in Pretoria, South Africa, and as an assistant coach at USA Basketball Men’s National Team minicamp in July of 2018.

Before moving to the US, Vanterpool worked in Europe for CSKA, the club he won the 2006 EuroLeague title with.
