The Los Angeles Lakers are in advanced talks with Oklahoma City for a trade of guard Dennis Schroder, as ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

Said deal is expected to include Thunder also acquiring Lakers‘ No. 28 pick on Wednesday’s 2020 NBA draft and possibly Lakers guard Danny Green. If the two sides reach an agreement, the deal can be completed at noon (local time) on Monday.

Prior to this news, the German guard revealed that he had received multiple offers from clubs, but he would “never” want to go to Lakers or Clippers.

“Yes, I have received offers. But I never wanted to go to the Lakers, the Clippers, or all the names that may have called my agents,” Schroder said in a recent interview.

“In the end, I’m good with the GM (Sam Presti – the OKC General Manager) and that was my decision. I said that I like the organization here better,” Schroder added.

Schroder finished the 2019-20 season with an average of 19.8 points, 4.0 assists, and 3.6 rebounds across 65 games with the Thunder in his second season with the team.

He has been one of the most sought-after guards in the trade market, and he fortifies a Lakers backcourt that potentially could lose veteran guards Rajon Rondo and Avery Bradley in free agency.

Schroder has one year and $15.5 million left on his contract and according to the same report, he would be acquired with the intention of eventually signing him to a new contract to remain with the defending NBA champions.
