The Dallas Mavericks expect to launch their 2020-21 campaign with Kristaps Porzingis on the injury list. General manager and president Donnie Nelson updated the status of the Latvian big Monday morning in a radio interview to the Dallas Morning News.

“He’s going to be into the season,” he mentioned, “We’re very, very particular about bringing him back at the right time. It’s not going to be a rush. We’ve got long-term vision when it comes to his rehab.”

Porzingis, hurt in the opener of the first-round playoffs series versus the Los Angeles Clippers in the Orlando bubble, had surgery in early October to repair the torn meniscus in his right knee. The Mavericks while remaining cautious hope to have back a few weeks into the regular season scheduled to start on December 22.
