Paul Millsap is no longer available on the free-agent market after opting to join the Brooklyn Nets, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Millsap, 36, had been linked to several teams, including the Nets, according to recent reports. Brooklyn winning the race adds yet another weapon in a packed roster.

The four-time All-Star, former Louisiana Tech standout, spent the last four seasons at the Denver Nuggets. His 9.0 points per 2020-21 Regular Season game were the lowest since his sophomore NBA season, but his shooting efficiency remained high.

Monroe was selected 47th overall in the 2006 NBA draft by the Utah Jazz. He steadily evolved into a go-to option in offense and retained the same status through his four years at the Atlanta Hawks from 2013-14 to 2016-17. Despite his declining production at Denver, he can be considered a solid option at the forward position for head coach Steve Nash.

His 2020-21 campaign generated 8.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.6 blocks per contest over 65 Regular Season and Playoffs appearances combined. The following season will be his 16th in the league.

The Nets previously added Patty Mills to fit in alongside returning superstars Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden. They will be looking to contend for the first NBA championship in franchise history.

The projected addition of Millsap with another standard NBA contract and one more bigman on the roster can certainly build on the rumors regarding a potential buyout for DeAndre Jordan.
