Kyrie Irving throws shade at Giannis Antetokounmpo about his injury in last year’s playoffs

Kyrie Irving is still trying to find balance after a long time away from action, though he seems he is not entirely “over” his ankle injury, which he suffered in Game 4 of the playoffs series against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Irving landed on Giannis Antetokounmpo’s foot in that play, an accident that would put an early end to his season before the Bucks won the series. Many months later, Irving recalled that moment in a recent press conference, while seemingly hinting that it was not an accident and throwing shade at Antetokounmpo.

“In the playoffs last year, James [Harden] goes out… and then, I’m going up for a shot and Giannis comes over and his foot just happens to be in the way”, said Irving, when asked about the difficulties the “Big 3” of the Nets (Irving, Kevin Durant, James Harden) have been facing.

Irving is known for his controversial remarks, so it remains to be seen whether he will be called to elaborate on his statement.
