NBA prospect Victor Wembanyama will miss the rest of the season, his team ASVEL Villeurbanne announced. ASVEL says that the 18-year-old big man suffered a muscle injury without mentioning any other details and the exact nature of the injury.

Wembanyama, widely projected as the No. 1 pick in the 2023 Draft, was hurt amid the French Jeep Elite League semifinals where his ASVEL is up 1-0 against JDA Dijon.

He finishes this campaign with 9.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks in 18.5 minutes over 16 games in the 2021-22 French League, along with 6.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks in 17:29 minutes over 13 EuroLeague matches.

This is his second injury during the 2021-22 season after being hurt back in December on the right shoulder.

Still, Wembanyama remains a generational talent who has already registered this year a career-high in the French league with 25 points, while having also a 14-point output in the EuroLeague against Zalgiris Kaunas.
