The Boston Celtics have listed Robert Williams III as questionable to play in Game 5 of the NBA Finals but are optimistic he will be cleared to help in the next meeting opposite the Golden State Warriors.

Williams, 24, has been dealing with knee soreness for several weeks but lately has been recovering more of his explosiveness until tweaking his left knee and asking to come out of Game 4 Friday.

“He did not do a specific thing, so he doesn’t know when it happened. He sprinted up and down one time, after one possession, and it was bothering him, and that’s why he asked to come out,” explained head coach Ime Udoka, “He is doing better. The day off, the rest. Optimistic he’ll be good to go, but we’ll test it before the game as usual.”

In late March, the Texas A&M product had suffered a torn meniscus in the left knee and underwent surgery. After sitting out the bottom end of the Regular Season, he returned to action midway through the Eastern Conference Semifinals best-of-seven series versus the Brooklyn Nets.

On the injury report of the Warriors, James Wiseman (right knee) has been ruled out for the remainder of the season since late March. Andre Iguodala (right knee) and Otto Porter Jr. (left foot) have been listed as questionable but are likely to be cleared and remain available.

The best-of-seven series tied 2-2 will continue Monday night in Chase Center and return to TD Garden Thursday. If necessary, Game 7 will be held in San Francisco Sunday.
