Recovering from a shoulder injury and making his first appearance in the 2022-23 season, Juhann Begarin was impressive and received praise from his new head coach Will Weaver.

“We all witnessed it today, Juhann Begarin is an NBA player. He can make an impact in Boston,” said Weaver commenting on the performance of his player in the game between Paris and AS Monaco held in Stade Roland Garros Sunday, “We missed him a lot to start the season.”

Begarin, 20, was picked up by the Boston Celtics in the 2021 NBA draft. He landed in the 45th spot of the draft.

After completing his second Summer League stint, the young prospect returned to Paris for the 2022-23 season. Slowed down by a shoulder injury, he was forced to the sidelines until the Betclic Elite LNB Pro A Regular Season Round 5 game.

Joining the action, he fell one point shy of his career-high ending up with 28 points in the losing effort against Turkish Airlines EuroLeague side Monaco. Adding to 10/16 field goals, he tallied five rebounds, three steals, and one assist in 32 minutes.

Paris dropped to 0-5 at the domestic level. Earlier in the week, it managed to prevail over Turk Telekom in the opening week of its debut 7DAYS EuroCup season.

The team controlled by former NBA executive David Kahn hired Weaver as the new head coach during the offseason. The Texas-born tactician has worked as an assistant in the NBA with experience split between the Houston Rockets, Philadelphia 76ers, and Brooklyn Nets, and was a head coach of the Long Island Nets in the G League and Sydney Kings in the NBL.
