During the NBA Night, Nikola Jokic registered his ninth triple-double of the 2022-23 Regular Season, leading the Denver Nuggets to the 123-111 win against the Boston Celtics in the clash of 1st-seeded teams.

The Serbian big had 30 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 assists, shooting with incredible percentages (10/13 FG, 2/2 3PT, 8/8 FT) and recording 0 turnovers.

While he says he’s not chasing any awards, the Denver Nuggets head coach Mike Malone said he should be named MVP for the third time in a row. “If people’s reason for not giving Nikola a third MVP is because he’s already won two in a row, that’s lazy”, he commented after the win against Boston as shared by Denver Post’s Mike Singer.

“We are all becoming so accustomed to it. But I promised myself I will never take Nikola and his greatness for granted. He’s a phenomenal player, plays the game the right way, and makes everybody around him better. What a joy to coach”, Mike Malone added.

Only three players have won three straight MVPs in NBA history: Bill Russell (1960-63), Wilt Chamberlain (1965-68), and Larry Bird (1984-86).

In the 2022-23 NBA Regular Season, Jokic is averaging 25.5 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 9.5 assists while shooting 61.6% from the field and 33.8% from beyond the arc.
