The Texas Legends currently hold Tyler Dorsey’s NBA G League rights

The Greek-American guard Tyler Dorsey, who auditioned for the Los Angeles Lakers this week, has signed an NBA G League contract, Marc Stein of ESPN reported.

The Texas Legends currently hold Dorsey’s NBA G League rights because of the games he played with the Legends on a Mavericks two-way contract, so a trade would be required for Dorsey to play elsewhere in the G League this season.

Dorsey is trying to find another contract in the NBA after he got waived by the Dallas Mavericks in late December. While at least three EuroLeague teams (AS Monaco, Fenerbahce Beko, and his former side Olympiacos Piraeus) are interested in him, the 26-year-old player’s priority is to stay in the NBA and will look to exhaust his options after the start of the 10-day contract period January 5).

In 2021-22, Dorsey averaged 12.8 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 2.0 assists as Olympiacos reached the EuroLeague Final Four. He helped the team win the Greek League and Cup titles, being named Final MVP on the latter.
