Joel Embiid had almost 50 points against reigning MVP Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets

In the showdown between Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic, the Sixers secured a win in comeback fashion by a score of 126-119.

The MVP runner-up the last two seasons turned in an incredible performance at Wells Fargo Center to lift the Sixers to a 126-119 win over the Nuggets. The team’s record is now 32-16 as the Sixers have won seven straight games.

Embiid recorded 47 points, 18 rebounds, five assists, three steals, and two blocks.

Two-time MVP Nikola Jokic had 24 points on 8-for-12 shooting, nine assists, and eight rebounds for Denver, who fell to 34-16.

“It’s not a rivalry. I love the big fella”, said Embiid about the Serb star: “Two-time MVP, one of the best players in the league. He is such a good player, I am a big fan”.

For the winning side, James Harden had 17 points and 13 assists, and Tobias Harris scored all 14 of his points in the second half after being shut down by Denver’s defense in the first half.

For Denver, which has lost three of its last four games, Jamal Murray chipped in 22 points and Michael Porter added 20.

Slovenian forward Vlatko Cancar didn’t get any minutes, as it also happened with Turkish sharpshooter Furkan Korkmaz of the Sixers.
