LeBron James has been out since February 26 and missing games during an important stretch for the Los Angeles Lakers but it seems that his return is approaching soon.
The Lakers upgraded James’ status from “out” to “doubtful” ahead of Sunday’s game of the team vs. the Chicago Bulls. While it’s still unlikely that the superstar will make his comeback in this match, his new status is a positive sign of his progress.
James was injured in his right foot tendon in 26/2 during a game against the Dallas Mavericks and the initial report was that his condition will be reassessed in two weeks. During his absence, the Lakers went 8-5 and are now 8th in the Western Conference at 37 – 37, tied with the seven-placed Minnesota Timberwolves.
It’s a very close battle for the playoffs and the Play-In tournament though. The 9th Pelicans have the same record as the Lakers, the Oklahoma City Thunder stand at 36-38 as do currently 11th Dallas Mavericks. The Utah Jazz are 35-39.
At 38 years of age, James is averaging 29.5 points, 8.4 rebounds and 6.9 assists this season, the 20th in his career.
