The NBA announced that Memphis Grizzlies forward Dillon Brooks was fined 25,000 for “violating league rules governing media interview access” during the Western Conference first-round series against the Los Angeles Lakers.

“The fine results from Brooks’ failure to participate in team postgame media availability during the first round of the 2023 NBA Playoffs,” the NBA announcement concludes.

Brooks refused to make himself available to the media following the three losses that the Grizzlies suffered vs. the Lakers in Los Angeles. After the Lakers crushed the Grizzlies 125-85 in Game 6 to win the series 4-2, it was reported that Brooks before the reporters were allowed in, skipping his availability. ESPN’s Tim MacMahon also tweeted that after Game 3 and following his ejection for a flagrant foul, Brooks told him “I ain’t talking.”

“The media making me a villain, the fans making me a villain, that just creates another persona on me,” Brooks mentioned in one of the instances in which he did talk to the media. He was in the center of attention after saying “I don’t respect anyone until they come and give me 40,” regarding LeBron James after the Grizzlies won in Game 2.
