The Phoenix Suns plan to waive point guard Chris Paul, per Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report and TNT.

Paul’s contract for next season will pay him $30.8M but only $15.8M are guaranteed.

Still, it’s a nice payday and Paul automatically becomes one of the top free agents in the league, despite his 38 years of age.

During his career, Chris Paul has also played for the New Orleans Hornets, Los Angeles Clippers, and Houston Rockets.

Paul is known for his ability to orchestrate offenses, distribute the ball, and make clutch plays. He is also a strong defender and has been selected to the NBA All-Defensive First Team multiple times. He is also an 11-time NBA All-Star, a nine-time All-NBA selection, and a four-time NBA assists leader. He has also represented the United States in international competitions, winning gold medals in the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games.

He led the Phoenix Suns to the NBA Finals in 2021, marking his first appearance in the championship series, but never won a title so far.

The Suns are already turning the page by hiring coach Frank Vogel after failing in the playoffs in 2022 and 2023.
