Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun sets the bar high for himself for the 2023-24 season, coming from a standout run in his sophomore year in the NBA.
“Of course, like everyone else, my goal is to become an All-Star,” Sengun told Eurohoops. “I hope I can do that.” Last season Sengun greatly improved his numbers, averaging 14.8 points, 9.0 rebounds and 3.8 assists while establishing himself as a starter.
The big picture for Sengun doesn’t have to do with individual trophies but with serious success for the Houston Rockets. “A championship has been my dream since I went to the NBA,” Sengun said. “I think that’s everyone’s dream, as well as Nikola Jokic’s and it took him eight years to be able to win a championship. Now, we have a good dream in the Rockets and I hope we’ll do our best next season and enter the playoffs.”

Here’s what Sengun also said on:
What he expects his role to be in 2023-24:
“I don’t know this because we haven’t trained as a team yet with results, but I think so too. My first two seasons were like that. I hope the next season will be the same, but of course we’ll see. I always wanted to come to the national team, but there was a situation in the dates, but then we handled it.”
Turkey competing in the Pre-Olympic Qualifiers:
“Everyone has self-confidence because we played the match with the fans in Istanbul. I joined late but I was ready. I worked full-time this season and came ready for the national team. Most of the people on the team are my childhood friends anyway. There are 7-8 people from Banvit and Beşiktaş. I adapted quickly to the team. I’m not a difficult player anyway. I always give what the team needs. Like I said, I came ready and I’m playing.”
