Failing to get the job done in regulation resulted in the San Antonio Spurs suffering a loss in overtime against the Toronto Raptors on Sunday.

“Even relaxing for a couple of seconds, it is too much,” commented Victor Wembanyama referring to head coach Gregg Popovich demanding focus through all four quarters.

Wembanyama, 19, added 20 points, nine rebounds, five blocks, four assists, and one steal on a positive start to his rookie NBA campaign.

“We are going to watch film and get better as a team,” he responded countering potentially getting fewer opportunities in the fourth quarter of the NBA Sundays contest.

“Every night is a challenge,” mentioned the French upstart, top pick of the 2023 NBA draft, “I still got a lot to prove to my teammates and my coach. I am just trying to do the dirty job sometimes and give 100%.”

Averaging 20.6 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.2 blocks, 1.6 assists, and 1.4 steals per game, Wembanyama is the major highlight for the Spurs in the 2023-24 season, as expected.

Carrying a 3-3 record, the next game is on the road versus the Indiana Pacers to complete the back-to-back on Monday (7/11, 1 AM CET). The next opponent also sits at 3-3.

Moving forward, the Spurs visit the New York Knicks on Wednesday and return to Frost Bank Center to wrap up a four-game week with home games against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday and the Miami Heat on Sunday.
