The latest achievement for Lithuanian Domantas Sabonis was passing Jerry Lucas and setting a new record for the Sacramento Kings with a 47th consecutive double-double.

“It is pretty crazy to have a record for the franchise,” he commented after breaking the record on Tuesday.

Extending the double-double streak, Sabonis combined 22 points and 11 rebounds in the home win versus the Milwaukee Bucks.

“We had a packed paint for Giannis. We knew they were going to get some wide-open looks. That is what happens when we try to stop him. They did not convert as many as they usually do and we also contested a bunch,” he described the defensive effort leading to a comfortable lead.

“You have to find ways to be effective no matter what the defense does,” reacted Giannis Antetokounmpo looking into potential similar situations in the Playoffs from the losing end of the one-sided contest. He finished with 30 points and 13 rebounds in Golden 1 Center.

“As a competitor, you always want to go against the best. And in this league lately, every team has at least someone in every position that is top three or top five,” replied Sabonis to a question about facing the Greek Freak, “That kind of brings more of the competitive spirit in.”

The Kings improved to 37-27 and pushed the Bucks to 42-24 in the 2023-24 NBA Regular Season. Home games are coming up for both sides against the Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers, respectively.
