Daniel Theis was traded from the New Orleans Pelicans to the Oklahoma City Thunder, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. The German forward/center is on an expiring 2.1 million contract.
Theis is averaging 4.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 16.3 minutes over 38 games of the 2024-25 season so far. Apart from the 32-year-old big man, the Thunder are also acquiring draft compensation.
At the Thunder, Theis will be joining forces with fellow German player Isaiah Hartenstein. The two of them had played together with their national team in the 2017 EuroBasket.
This is Theis’ eighth season in the NBA. He previously played for the Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls, Houston Rockets and Indiana Pacers.
