Damian Lillard was on the bench in Game 1 of the NBA Playoffs against the Indiana Pacers; the Bucks lost, and Lillard’s return to action may tip the scales.
With ESPN reporting that Lillard may be back in Game 2 or Game 3, Giannis Antetokounmpo was asked about the return of his fellow star and hopes that he will be ready to go when he steps on the court again.
“Great, great news. Happy for him that he’s healthy, he’s clear now, he’s able to come back and play basketball again,” Giannis said of Lillard on Saturday. “He elevates our team. He’s one of the best players, still, in the league. Hopefully, whenever he is ready — I don’t know when that’s going to be, Game 5, Game 6, Game 4 — I don’t know what that’s going to be. Hopefully, he can come back and elevate our team and help us win games.”
Speaking about Game 1, the Greek Freak admitted that the Bucks simply can do better on the offensive end.
“I think we can do a better job just spacing the floor better and being more decisive when we get the ball,” Antetokounmpo said. “Try to attack. Try to get in the paint. Try to create something either for yourself or for your teammate.”
“Our offense wasn’t good,” Giannis added. “Shots did not fall. It felt like it was Game 1. Guys get, like, anxious. They kind of inch in towards the ball because they want the ball. They want to make a play. They want to get themselves involved in the game, and I don’t think it’s from bad ego. “I feel like everybody’s trying to do the right thing. Everyone has the right intentions, but we just gotta be better, just having patience, and just trusting. Trusting one another. Trusting that the ball is going to find us. Trusting that we’re going to make plays.”
