Following Sacramento’s decision to fire Mike Brown at the end of 2024, Doug Christie was promoted to interim head coach, bringing the Kings all the way to the Play-In Tournament.
A few weeks after the official end of the season for the franchise due to their defeat to the Dallas Mavericks in the Play-Ins, the former player of the franchise was promoted as head coach.
Interviewed by Sactown Sports 1140, he touched on his current and future relationship with Domantas Sabonis. “Uh, Domas called me. We’ve talked, we text. We haven’t really talked about all of that. It’s more about life. But I love him to death,” Christie opened.
“He has been so instrumental in a lot of things that I’ve done, and just humbled to be able to work with such a great talent. And as far as him working, and all those things, we just have to get together and communicate and talk about it, and his goals.”
“I already know them, but we need to address them from this perspective and make sure that he gets everything that he needs, and I will make sure that that happens,” Christie concluded on Sabonis.
In his fourth complete campaign with the Sacramento Kings, Domantas Sabonis has averaged once again a double-double, putting up 19.1 points, 13.9 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per game.
