Nikola Jokic was pleased with how the Denver Nuggets performed in Game 7 against the Los Angeles Clippers to advance to the second round to the playoffs with a blowout win.
“Finding a way to win the game. Finding the players, finding the momentum, finding the stops, finding the baskets we need. This is the best description of this team: finding the way,” Jokic said when asked about the many contributors that the Nuggets had in the game.
While Jokic produced 16 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists all Nuggets starters scored at least 15 points each. Russell Westbrook came off the bench to provide a valuable boost of 16 points, five rebounds, five assists and five steals.
After trailing 26 – 21 at the end of the first quarter, Denver vastly improved their defense to beat the Clippers 72 – 40 in 24 minutes of the second and third period. Jokic and his teammates turned the game into a rout and led up to 35 points.
“The defense was amazing,” Jokic commented. “We rebounded big and defense was amazing. We had the opportunity to run. Many guys stepped up and many guys made basket.”
“In playoffs, we know that everybody needs to step up. Defensively, offensively, energy-wise, wherever,” Jokic added.
