The Denver Nuggets didn’t make it, but their former coach Michael Malone did.

Just three games before the end of the regular season, the Nuggets made the surprising decision to part ways with Michael Malone, the winningest coach in franchise history.

Despite the shake-up, Denver managed to reach the Playoffs with three straight wins and advanced to the Western Conference semifinals. And while the team’s run ended there, Malone has found a different path to stay involved—through broadcasting.

ESPN announced that the 2023 NBA champion coach will join their coverage of the Western Conference Finals between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Oklahoma City Thunder, who eliminated Malone’s former team in a hard-fought seven-game series.

Malone will be part of the “NBA Countdown” pregame and halftime studio show, which will be on-site at every game of the series. He’ll join Malika Andrews, Stephen A. Smith, Bob Myers, Kendrick Perkins, and Shams Charania as part of the broadcast team.

Michael Malone, who led the Nuggets to their first NBA title in 2023 and holds the franchise record for most career wins, was unexpectedly let go along with general manager Calvin Booth in the final week of the regular season, after 10 years at the bench of the Colorado team.
