A positive update on Victor Wembanyama revealed that the San Antonio Spurs are expecting the French prodigy to be medically cleared for the NBA Preseason 2025, and thus launch preparations for the 2025-26 season without limitations.
Due to right shoulder deep vein thrombosis, the 21-year-old center sat out the last part of the 2024-25 Regular Season, and the Spurs steadily fell out of the playoff picture, ending up with a 34-48 record and in 13th place in the Western Conference standings.
During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday, ESPN senior NBA insider Shams Charania reported that the Spurs are expecting Wemby to be ready for the start of the next season.

Resurfacing in April, in an end-of-season press conference, the native of Le Chesnay was visibly reluctant to discuss details about his recovery from a blood clot. He fell shy of setting a specific timeline concerning his third NBA campaign. However, he was more clear about probably sitting out the EuroBasket 2025.
Logging 117 appearances in the league based in North America over his first two seasons, Wembanyama confirmed himself as the next big thing, tallying 22.5 points, 10.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 3.7 blocks, and 1.2 steals per contest, until being forced to the sidelines in February.
Before being selected with the first overall pick of the 2023 draft and moving his talents to the NBA, his professional career already featured three years in the top-tier division of France with Metropolitans 92, LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne, and Nanterre 92, besides several appearances in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and 7DAYS EuroCup.
