The rumors about the Milwaukee Bucks trading away Giannis Antetokounmpo persist, countering general uncertainty surrounding the Freak due to a lack of direct talks with the team based in Wisconsin about his future.

According to The Athletic’s Kelly Iko, the 30-year-old Greek superstar remains a target for the Houston Rockets.

A planned meeting with the Bucks has been postponed, but teams with assets to become trade partners, including the Toronto Raptors and Boston Celtics, have been monitoring the situation. The Rockets are also a possible fit.

The native of Athens is under contract until the end of the 2026-27 season and has a player option for the 2027-28 season. Prompting rumors about a potential trade, he seems determined to strengthen a bid for a second NBA championship, either in Milwaukee or elsewhere.

Back in 2013, he was drafted by the Bucks with the 15th pick and has been loyal to the franchise over the next 12 years, including a championship run in the 2020-21 campaign to headline his career so far. Between the Regular Season and nine postseason runs, he has played in 876 NBA games, besides being named the Most Valuable Player of the 2021 Finals and of the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons. In addition, he has been an All-Star each year since 2017.

In contrast to questions about his NBA future, the experienced point forward is expected to suit up for the senior national team of Greece in the EuroBasket 2025, before the next NBA journey.
