Paris Basketball coach Tiago Splitter will be returning to the NBA to become an assistant at the Portland Trail Blazers, according to Chema de Lucas.
This will be Splitter’s third NBA team as an assistant. He began his coaching career with the Brooklyn Nets (2109 to 2023) and then had a one-year stint at the Atlanta Hawks in 2023-24 before moving to Paris.
In his first ever job as head coach in 2024-25, Splitter had quite the standout run, leading EuroLeague debutant Paris Basketball to the playoffs in what was widely characterized as a “Cinderella season”. The team surprised the EuroLeague scene with their brand of basketball that was, “faster than a lot of NBA teams” as the Brazilian coach himself described.
Splitter was tied for third with Bayern Munich coach Gordon Herbert in the EuroLeague Coach of the Year voting.
Right now, Splitter and Paris are competing in the French League playoffs and will aim to advance to the Finals Sunday (8/6) against JL Bourg.
As a player, became an NBA champion with the San Antonio Spurs in 2014. He was previously a three-time All-EuroLeague center while playing for Baskonia.
