According to ESPN, Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving has declined his $43 million player option and agreed to a three-year, $119 million contract extension, which includes a player option for the 2027-28 season.

Irving, recovering from an ACL injury, aims to return as early as January and will continue to lead the Mavericks alongside Anthony Davis and rookie Cooper Flagg, who is expected to be selected as No. 1 pick at the upcoming NBA draft.

Meanwhile, Houston Rockets guard Fred VanVleet declined his $44.9 million team option and signed a two-year, $50 million deal with a player option for the 2026-27 season.

VanVleet has been instrumental in Houston’s transformation into a playoff contender, averaging 14.1 points last season and delivering strong playoff performances despite the team’s challenges.

Next season he’ll have Kevin Durant at his side.
