Fresh off a season for the ages, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has agreed to a four-year, $285 million supermax contract extension with the Oklahoma City Thunder, securing his place with the reigning champions through the 2030–31 season.

According to ESPN, this is now the richest annual salary ever signed by an NBA player.

The 26-year-old guard dominated the 2024–25 campaign, averaging a league-best 32.7 points per game in the regular season and 30.3 in the NBA Finals. He became just the fourth player in league history to win the MVP, Finals MVP, and scoring title in the same season, joining the elite company of Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Shaquille O’Neal.

Gilgeous-Alexander has been the centerpiece of Oklahoma City’s rebuild since arriving in the 2019 Paul George trade. Through steady progress and unwavering loyalty to the franchise, he led the Thunder from a full rebuild to a 68-win championship team.

Now, with his future in OKC secured and a core built to contend, Shai’s new deal not only rewards his brilliance but signals the Thunder’s commitment to staying atop the NBA for years to come.
