With Kevin Durant departing from the Phoenix Suns, Devin Booker naturally returns as the face of the franchise: extending his contract seems the obvious move, and that’s what’s happening.
According to Shams Charania from ESPN, the 28-year-old superstar has agreed to a two-year $145M max extension with the Phoenix Suns, extending his stay in the city for more than a decade.
Selected with the 13th overall pick by Phoenix, this is Devin Booker’s third contract extension with the club, establishing a long-term future with the Suns and aiming to return to competing for the NBA Championship. He played in the NBA Finals in 2021, losing to Milwaukee.
Finishing with a 36-46 record in the 2024-25 NBA season, the Phoenix Suns missed the opportunity to play in the postseason in the Western Conference, leading to a significant change with KD leaving.
Despite the poor team’s results, Devin Booker still averaged 25.6 points – 9th overall in the whole NBA – while also posting 4.1 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game.
Over the course of his career, he has represented Team USA on the global stage, winning two gold medals at the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024.
