Cholet announced that French power forward Mohamed Diawara is leaving the club to pursue his NBA dream.
The 20-year-old was selected as the 51st overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks.
He made a lasting impression in the Summer League for the Knicks, averaging seven points and 5.2 rebounds in four appearances, showing promising flashes. He is now set to stay with the Knicks, although it’s yet to be confirmed whether he will sign a minimum rookie contract or a two-way deal.
“Arriving from Paris in the summer of 2024 and recently winning gold at the U20 Euro with the French national team, Mohamed Diawara had a clear goal: to make it to the NBA.
That goal has now become a reality: Mo was selected with the 51st pick in the 2025 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks and has decided to continue his journey in the United States!
Throughout the season, Mo brought his energy and defensive impact to the team, both in the Betclic Elite and the FIBA Europe Cup.
Cholet Basket warmly thanks him for his commitment, motivation, and professionalism.
Best of luck in this next chapter, Mo Diawara.
We wish you all the best moving forward,” Cholet announced.
Diawara averaged 5.8 points and 3.1 rebounds with Cholet Basket last season playing in the French Betclic Elite and 6,8 points with 3,1 rebounds in the FIBA Europe Cup.
