Following necessary motion capture sessions, Victor Wembanyama is moving his talents into a new animated series, ‘Alien Dunk’, as reported by Variety on Tuesday.

The 21-year-old center of the San Antonio Spurs will feature as an animated character in the series produced by PGS Entertainment. France’s TF1 is already committed to the project, but more networks around the world are expected to pick up licensing rights. The animation will be produced by STIM Studio, whose credits include ‘The Wild Robot’, ‘Garfield’, and ‘Tom & Jerry’.

Combining basketball with comedy and science fiction, the story evolves around an intergalactic Starball League, with Wemby and friends aiming to preserve peace in the universe through basketball competition.

“Seeing myself animated is an incredible experience, and it brings together two things I love: basketball and space,” described Wembanyama, “The most exciting part is creating a universe for kids to enjoy, filled with fun, imagination, and inspiration for young fans all over the world.”

Obviously, the nickname Alien, stemming from his unique abilities, inspired the series title.

“Victor is an ‘alien’ not only for his exceptional athletic abilities but also for the positive values he embodies off the court,” said PGS Entertainment’s Philippe Soutter, “These qualities make him a natural animated hero and the perfect centerpiece for ‘Alien Dunk.’”

“This series promises our young audience incredible adventures filled with action, sport, and science fiction in a very rich and exciting universe,” added Yann Labasque, TF1 Group’s head of youth programming.

After recovering from a deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder, the French center is also preparing to start his third NBA journey with the Spurs, since being drafted with the first overall pick in 2023.
