Aaron Gordon stands among the most solid teammates for Serbian superstar Nikola Jokic at the Denver Nuggets. During an appearance on ESPN’s NBA Today on his 30th birthday on Tuesday, the American power forward discussed playing alongside the Joker.
“He’s amazing,” he confirmed a notion widely accepted by teammates of Jokic, “To get to play around one of the best players, if not the best player of all-time. So, the gravity that Joker has…”
“I think we have a great understanding with each other on and off the basketball floor. You guys are going to see that flourish,” added Gordon, looking into the 2025-26 campaign.
Midway through the 2020-21 season, the San Jose native was traded to the Nuggets from the Orlando Magic. His partnership with Jokic is certainly highlighted by a championship run in the 2022-23 journey, but also features exciting combinations stemming from the creativity of the three-time season NBA Most Valuable Player and Finals MVP in 2023.
With the additions of Lithuanian big Jonas Valanciunas and Cameron Johnson via trades, a reunion with Bruce Brown, and further summer signings of Tim Hardaway Jr. and Kessler Edwards, the Nuggets strengthened a championship bid during the offseason with more roster depth for head coach David Adelman.
After one NCAA season with Arizona, Gordon was selected with the fourth overall pick of the 2014 NBA Draft by the Magic. He quickly established himself among the team leaders before the move to Denver in 2021.
