Following team practices, the Houston Rockets and Alperen Sengun switched to NBA Preseason 2025 action on Monday, defeating the Atlanta Hawks in Toyota Center.

The 23-year-old Turkish center lasted just over 17 minutes, logging a game-high 19 points behind 5/9 field goals, including 2/2 three-pointers. His creativity amounted to six assists. He added five rebounds and two blocks.

“Of course,” he confidently responded to a question about whether his stint with the senior national team of Turkiye in EuroBasket 2025 helped him in preparations for the 2025-26 Regular Season.

“I kind of had a small season this summer. And I didn’t get that much of a break after the national team, which is good for me. I just came back over here still in shape, and stay ready for the season,” he added.

Playing in Riga between August 27 and September 14, Sengun tallied 21.6 points, 10.1 rebounds, 6.6 assists, 1.1 blocks, and 1.0 steals per contest en route to a silver medal and a spot on the All-Star Five.

“I just feel stronger. I don’t know, I would say I feel faster. Just like I always feel faster with the ball or off the ball,” he furthered on the impact from the recent FIBA tournament.

Staying in Houston for the second exhibition fixture, the team coached by Ime Udoka welcomes the Utah Jazz on Wednesday, with Kevin Durant joining his new teammates on the court after sitting out the preseason opener.

Following two more friendlies, the Rockets start the Regular Season opposite the defending champions Oklahoma City Thunder, in Paycom Center on October 21.
