Three teams, four games, one winner — a fresh twist on the midseason classic

The NBA announced that the 2026 All-Star Game will feature a U.S. vs. World format, introducing a new three-team, round-robin tournament structure with four 12-minute games.

Set to take place on February 15, 2026, at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, the event will air on NBC and Peacock. The competition will feature two U.S. teams and one World team, each consisting of at least eight players.

The 24 All-Stars will still be chosen through the traditional voting system — with fans, players, and media deciding the starters, and coaches selecting the reserves. This year, however, selections will be positionless, with the final roster split between American and international players.

If voting doesn’t yield the required 16 U.S. players and eight internationals, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver will make adjustments to ensure the minimum is met.

The round-robin format will see Team A face Team B first, with the winner meeting Team C next. The losing side from Game 1 will then take on Team C in Game 3. The top two teams by record will advance to the championship game, with point differential serving as a tiebreaker if necessary.
