Giannis Antetokounmpo was forced to an early exit with 3:03 remaining in the second quarter and did not return on Monday. He will undergo an MRI, as confirmed by head coach Doc Rivers, after his side’s loss, 118-106, against the Cleveland Cavaliers in Rocket Arena.
“We won’t know anything until tomorrow. Didn’t look great, I can tell you that,” said the 64-year-old play-caller in a postgame press conference.
“He grabbed it, I want to say, in the first quarter. I asked him, and then he said it was fine. Then I think he grabbed it again and said it was fine, and then the third time is when it happened. But I think it happened earlier, in my opinion. I don’t know that factually,” added Rivers.
Dealing with left knee patellar tendinopathy, the Greek Freak was originally listed as probable for the meeting opposite the Cavs. However, he reported groin pain from the first quarter and ultimately left the game after a quick foul to stop play in the second quarter.
With the 30-year-old point forward leaving at 14 points, five rebounds, four assists, and one steal over 13 minutes, the Bucks failed to keep up in the fourth quarter and were forced to 8-7 in the 2025-26 NBA Regular Season. Thanasis Antetokounmpo stayed on the bench, and Alex Antetokounmpo remained on a G League assignment with the Wisconsin Herd.
Giannis, perhaps heading to a lengthy spell on the sidelines, would obviously be a huge blow for the Bucks.
