Former NBA star and Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups has been granted bail of $5 million following his arrest in connection with an illegal gambling scheme.
Billups, 49, who led the Detroit Pistons to the 2004 NBA championship and earned Finals MVP honors, was charged with wire fraud and money laundering. During his arraignment on Monday, he pleaded not guilty to both counts.
According to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, Billups used his Colorado home as collateral for the bail, with his wife and daughter co-signing the bond.
The arrest is part of a broader FBI investigation into illegal sports betting and gambling operations.
Billups has served as Portland’s head coach since 2021 and was placed on leave by the TrailBlazers following his arrest earlier this month.
