Victor Wembanyama is set to sit out an eighth consecutive game in the 2025-26 NBA Regular Season, and is likely to miss more due to a left calf strain.

More than two weeks after being sidelined, the 21-year-old French center of the San Antonio Spurs remains out indefinitely. Lacking a specific recovery timeline, with the Spurs being cautious from the top of his stint on the injury list, he can be medically cleared over the next few weeks up to Christmas, as projected by Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News on Monday.

Heading to a clash with the Memphis Grizzlies in Frost Bank Center on Tuesday, Wemby has been listed as out, marking his eighth straight absence. Countering with off-court contributions, the native of Le Chesnay has been on hand, leading The Jackals. His offseason idea on a new Spurs supporter section has been growing into a successful project with his help in recent home games.

“The saying goes, when people show you who they are, believe them,” explained 39-year-old Johnson, praising Wembanyama. “He’s been committed and invested. He’s trusted. He’s worked. He’s had his actions back up his words. It’s awesome.”

From a 9-4 record before putting their leading star on the injury list, the Spurs are now 13-6, including a 2-2 tally in last week’s four-game road trip. They rank fifth in the Western Conference standings, six games away from top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder and 1.5 games safe inside the top six seeds, which lead directly to the Playoffs 2026.

In 12 appearances, the Alien put in 26.2 points, 12.9 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 3.6 blocks, and 1.1 steals per game.
