With the Portland Trail Blazers apparently moving on from 49-year-old Chauncey Billups, the suspended head coach seems to be in the same direction

Chauncey Billups has accepted an offer for his Lake Oswego home, with the sale pending as of Thursday, according to Sean Highkin of The Rose Garden Report.

An NBA champion in 2004 as the Finals MVP with the Detroit Pistons, 49-year-old Billups has been suspended by the Portland Trail Blazers after being arrested in late October and remains on leave while facing gambling charges. The attached FBI investigation on an illegal poker operation with alleged ties to organized crime was completely unrelated to his coaching duties, as confirmed by authorities.

Per public records, the member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame since 2024 bought the four-bedroom, six-bathroom home in Oregon for $3.9 million in early July 2021, shortly after his first head-coaching assignment was announced by the Blazers. The listed value has since increased to $4.275 million.

His decision to sell property does not necessarily mean he is actually moving on from the Blazers, but it certainly hints in that direction. Besides a simple real estate transaction, it can be easily interpreted as him considering unlikely a return to his previous role with the NBA franchise based in Oregon.

In late November, Billups, a Denver native, pleaded not guilty to federal charges. His next court appearance will be a procedural hearing on March 4, 2026.

Meanwhile, interim head coach Tiago Splitter has guided the Blazers to a 9-15 record in the 2025-26 Regular Season. Sitting then in the Western Conference standings, at the bottom end of the Play-In zone, the distance from elimination is 0.5 games.
