Atlanta Hawks four-time All-Star Trae Young and his agents, Aaron Mintz, Drew Morrison, and Austin Brown, are working with the franchise on a trade, according to ESPN and Shams Charania.

Without the injured Young, the Hawks have created a new, young core, and they intend to go forward without him.

According to the report, the Hawks and Young’s agents have maintained dialogue over his future over the past several months, since the franchise elected not to offer a contract extension to the 27-year-old guard, despite him being the face of the franchise since 2018, when he was drafted.

One possible scenario is for Young to move to Washington, with the Hawks taking CJ McCollum as the key piece of the trade, since his contract is expiring this summer.

Young has two more years in his current contract, expiring in the summer of 2027.
