As the trade market continues to shift and several All-Star caliber names have already changed teams prior to the February 5th deadline, Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future is center of the attention all over the NBA.

Despite the speculations and links to multiple interested sides, the Milwaukee Bucks superstar has pushed back on the idea that he is looking for a way out.

Speaking to Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reporter Jim Owczarski, Antetokounmpo made it clear that Milwaukee remains the place he hopes to finish his career, describing the city as central to both his professional journey and his life away from the court.

I’ve created more memories in this city than in my country,” the 10-time All-Star said.

Antetokounmpo reflected on everything he says he learned in Milwaukee — from becoming an NBA player and champion to building a family — noting that many of his most important life milestones are tied to the city.

I’ve learned what it is to be a champion. I’ve learned how to be an MVP. I’ve learned how to be a father… I got married in Milwaukee, Wisconsin… I’ve had my kids here. My father is buried here.

While reports have suggested that uncertainty between the two sides has existed for some time, Antetokounmpo said he plays no role in discussions involving other teams and framed any future decisions as organizational rather than personal.

“If you ask me what I really want deep down in my heart? I want to be a Milwaukee Buck until I retire and win a championship here,” he said, while acknowledging that circumstances can change if priorities no longer align.

Antetokounmpo is currently sidelined with a calf injury, and the Bucks have yet to announce a timeline for his return.
