The Dallas Mavericks have completed a major trade with the Washington Wizards, sending 10-time NBA All-Star Anthony Davis to the nation’s capital in a deal that significantly reshapes both franchises, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Along with Davis, Dallas is trading Jaden Hardy, D’Angelo Russell, and Dante Exum to Washington. In return, the Mavericks will receive Khris Middleton, AJ Johnson, Malaki Branham, and Marvin Bagley III, as well as a substantial package of future draft assets.
According to sources, the draft compensation heading to Dallas includes two first-round picks and three second-round selections. The first-rounders consist of a 2026 pick originally belonging to the Oklahoma City Thunder and a protected 2030 first-round pick from the Golden State Warriors. The second-round picks include a 2026 selection from Phoenix, a 2027 pick from Chicago, and a 2029 pick from Houston.
The move signals a bold shift in direction for both teams. Washington acquires a proven superstar in Davis to anchor its roster, while Dallas adds depth, veteran experience, and long-term flexibility through an impressive haul of draft capital. The trade is expected to have significant implications across the league as both franchises adjust their strategies moving forward.
